Come as a customer, leave as a friend

A koffiebar in Oud-Zuid

We are a specialty coffee bar on a quiet stretch of Ruysdaelstraat, a few minutes’ walk from Museumplein and the Rijksmuseum. The doors open at 7:00 — early for this part of Amsterdam — and we pour until 15:00, Tuesday through Sunday.

More living room than café

People come here to work through a morning with a laptop, to read, or to sit with a toddler who gets a toddlercino on the house. There is a rack of clothing and a shelf of books and zines alongside the bar, so the room is part coffee bar, part shop, part somebody’s front room. Come as a customer, leave as a friend is not a slogan we invented after the fact.

The coffee and the tea

We rotate single-origin beans by season and keep bags from roasters we rate on the retail shelf, so you can take home whatever you liked in the cup. Alongside the espresso and hand brew there is a loose-leaf tea programme we are quietly proud of: fourteen teas listed by origin, from a Taiwanese Alishan Jin Xuan to an aged 2001 pu-erh. It is all on the menu.

The strippenkaart

Ten coffees on one card for €25. It never expires, and it is yours to share — hand it to a friend and we will punch it for them. The artwork is a straight-faced tribute to the old Dutch nationale strippenkaart, which anyone who rode a bus before 2011 will recognise. Ask for one at the counter, or see the rest of the merch.
